Even the skinny feel fat. Even the pretty feel ugly. Even the smart feel stupid. Even the popular feel friendless. Accept yourself For who you are. Change the status quo Let's be something other than the norm and feed our feelings so. Fat is fat and fun to be with. Skinny is skinny and sensually significant Pretty is pretty and transparently pure. Unattractive is unattractive but not to a partner. Stupid is stupid and often the most sensitive, Turn the mask release the person dismantle the disguise and let yourself out. Release the Person for the insecure
This poem, written early in 2008 is one of my favourites
exhaled twists of silent remorse taking ever decreasing torturous path to a final point of embodied solidity, confirmed cancer of individual desire.
The Prayer Sitting, hands clasped firmly on open page thoughts extend and speak truthfully to God asking in faltering syllables, fearful of rejection for never ending protection from a life well lead. The muttered sounds of the near silent prayer fill the air with delicate tremors of true belief lifting the emotional state of those near by and warming the room with fond memories. Keep family and friends in your safe hands Look after the souls of those close to our hearts treasure the children in their enthusiastic play and bring me wisdom to bring insight to all.
Sending young people just out of mothers arms into the jaws of munitions thrown by heroes of another belief to save or secure the commodity of commerce. Leaving behind shattered families, shattered buildings, shattered communities and broken lives. Children play on dangerous ground losing limbs to forgotten shells Does no one listen does no one care war breeds hate hate breeds instability and instability breeds an older generation filled with the misery of lost paternity. Token of a fallen star reaping the joy, others left. Breathing life withdrawn dishevelled, progress shown by Random words of rhetoric winding inextricable painted patterns on platted patent floor, while disorganising twisting, twirling dervishes drool diligently over delectable treats. Painting the scene with words of colour, letters fluorescent in their place, trembling heartfelt fear of loving, just another rainy day. A short poem for fun
The serpentine sounds of London’s heart incongruous in a cloud of city noise green, hedged with flags of Nations holding history and fairy tales in its managed embrace. The fountain of the fairytale princess a circle of energetic imagery drawn from Cornish granite waits in anticipation for the summer crowds along with Peter Pan in Jekyll’s share park.
